Customize Your Widget
Style colors, logos, button position, and security options.
When creating or editing a widget, you can customize its mode, appearance, content, and security. Choose the Mode deliberately; all other settings are optional.
Mode
Choose how the widget responds to users: Search for a quick answer to a single question, or Chat for a connected conversation with follow-up questions. For a deeper comparison, see What Is the Chat?.
You can switch the mode at any time from the widget settings.
Appearance
Logo - Choose between the Respeak logo, the workspace logo (must be uploaded in workspace settings first), or a custom widget logo (square image).
Colors - Customize the header background color, highlight color, and primary action color to match your design. If you do not choose any colors, the widget uses the default settings.
Button position - Choose whether the widget button appears in the bottom-right (default) or bottom-left corner of the page. You can also set bottom and side offsets (0-200 px) to nudge the button away from the edges. A small live preview shows you the resulting placement. Use the reset button to return to the default position.
Content
Info section - Choose the introductory text shown before someone asks their first question. You can use the default text (the expert's name and description), enter custom text, or hide the section entirely.
Example questions - Shows the example questions you have configured in your expert, displayed before the first question is asked. You can toggle this on or off.
Expert selection helper text - If you offer multiple experts in the widget, you can display a short hint to help users choose (e.g. "Choose the expert that best fits your request.").
Security
Allowed domains - Specify which websites your widget is allowed to work on (e.g. https://www.your-website.com). Leave the field empty to set no restriction.
IP Blocking - When enabled, only users whose IP address is within the allowed range can use the widget.
Auto expiration - Optionally, set a date after which the widget is automatically deactivated.
Use the Test Widget button to open a preview of your widget without embedding it on an external page. This lets you check the appearance and functionality before going live.
