Ask Questions
Search your knowledge base and receive sourced AI answers.
In Respeak, you ask questions against your knowledge base and get answers drawn directly from the documents you have added. This article walks you through the process step by step.
Select an Expert and Ask a Question
Open Search
Open Search in Respeak and select one or more experts in the top-right corner to use as your knowledge base. An expert is a collection of documents and knowledge that you or your team have put together.
Type your question
Type your question into the search field. The placeholder text reads: Ask a question to your knowledge base... Then press Enter or click the arrow button to the right of the search field.
Respeak now searches your knowledge base and generates an answer. While it works, you will see the message Searching relevant sources...
Set the Answer Language
Between the filter button and the history button, you will find the language selector. Use it to choose which language the answer should be written in. In Automatic mode, Respeak detects the language of your question and replies in the same language. Alternatively, you can manually pick a specific language - for example English, German, French, Spanish, or Turkish.
Use Filters
Filters let you narrow your search to specific parts of your knowledge base, helping you find the right information faster.
Open the filter menu
Click the Filter button on the left side of the search field. A menu opens with the available filter options:
Filter | Description |
|---|---|
Keywords | Restricts the search to documents that contain certain keywords. |
Date | Filters by a time range (e.g. last week, last month, or a custom range). |
Version | Searches only specific document versions. |
Source Names | Filters by the name of particular sources. |
Activate filters
Toggle filters on or off by clicking them. Active filters are highlighted in color. To reset all filters, click the X next to the heading Filter Options.
If no data is available for a given filter (e.g. no keywords have been set up), the corresponding option is grayed out and cannot be clicked.
Question History
Respeak saves your previous questions so you can quickly find and re-run earlier queries.
Open the history
Click the history icon (clock icon) to the right of the language selector. A menu opens showing your past questions. Use the search field at the top of the menu to look for a specific question.
Re-run a question
Click a question to load it as the active query. It will automatically appear in the search field.
The AI Summary
After you ask a question, the AI Summary appears. It brings together the most important information from your sources.
The superscript numbers in the answer are source references - click one to open the corresponding source (see Understanding Sources & Citations for details). Below the answer you will find buttons to copy the answer and to leave feedback (thumbs up / thumbs down). The Start chat button lets you continue working with the answer in chat mode.
Below the summary you will see a note that this is an AI-generated answer. When in doubt, verify the information against the original sources.
